Apsley Shaving Cream Bowl

Our glycerin-based shaving creams are an excellent way to achieve an incredibly close, yet comfortable shave. Although not required, we recommend using one of our badger haired shaving brushes for the optimal shaving experience.
Apsley, named after the iconic London landmark and former residence of the 1st Duke of Wellington, has been formulated to ignite the senses with a refined blend of smouldering woods accentuated by light citrus notes. The harmonious overtones of woody vertivert are lifted with a refreshing essence of grapefruit and are accentuated by notes of pepper, while its heart of cedar- wood and patchouli, which has been enriched by sensual notes of musk, gives an alluring base to this captivating fragrance. Fresh, aromatic, masculine and timeless.

Wonderful Scent, Great Shave

I was visiting Canberra and had a shave at T&H there - great experience, would recommend. I loved the Apsley scent, so I bought a tester of the Apsley shaving cream and balm there and when I got back home, I bought a tub of the shaving cream. I switched from MWF shaving soap. The first couple of shaves with the Apsley cream weren't that great, but I really love it now and am getting just as good a shave as I did with MWF soap. I would note a couple of things. First, and I read this in another review elsewhere, you'll probably need more water than you think when lathering it up, but eventually you'll get to a really nice lather. Second, when I was at T&H, I asked the barber about her choice of cream over soap. She suggested that if you're using a cream, you should use a pre shave oil as well. I noticed that my shaves with the cream have been better when I used a pre shave oil. I don't have the T&H oil yet, but will buy it when I run out of my current product. Overall, great product.

Not enough lather

I’m a regular user of Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes shaving cream. I decided to try the Apsley; and although the scent is incredible, I found that this shaving cream doesn’t have enough lather to its application. It’s just not as smooth as the W. Indian Limes one and It tends to dry out quicker when shaving. Going back to Limes.

The scent is simply outstanding with fantastic lathering for a great shave.

I purchased the sample set with colognes. Of all the scents I have to say Apsley is by a large margin my favorite. When I lathered this up in my shaving bowl I found myself continuously drawn to my shaving brush to draw in deep breaths of this wonderful fragrance. The complexity of the fragrance is difficult to describe. Unlike professionals who are able to draw out individual scents, I am only able to pick up the overall mix. On face and in the shaving bowl the scent is manly, refreshing and quite simply the best I have ever used. On face the fragrance lasted about two hours which is much longer than most. The cologne is just as fantastic. This shaving cream and cologne will become a staple for me. Thank you T&F for making such a fantastic product.

This scent really grows on you....

The first time I used Apsley shave cream I wasn't all that impressed with it compared to their West Indian Limes and Sandalwood products. Then I tried it again and liked it better. By the time I'd shaved with it three or four times I fell in love with it. While I've yet to find a fragrance from Truefitt & Hill I haven't liked (well... maybe Spanish Leather could have been better), Apsley is now right up there toward the top. Added bonus: when I walk into our master bathroom now it smells WONDERFUL! Of course I bought the Apsley shave balm as well, and will buy the cologne when it becomes available. Buy it, then give it a few shaves and you'll love it, too. Such a "clean" scent. Terrific product....

Fantastic!

An excellent aroma, really, really nice! I have tried most of the T&H shaving creams, and like them all. But for me, the Apsley and Sandalwood are at the top of the list. If you haven't tried the Apsley, it's time you do. I actually keep at least two or three different T&H shaving creams available, and switch them around every week or two, just to avoid getting use to one fragrance and not enjoying it as much. The rotation between a few really nice creams does keep things interesting!
