This isn’t an ordinary experience
because these
aren’t ordinary barbers.
A 200-year-old craft is not something you just pick up overnight. That’s why each of our trained professionals goes through the equivalent of a master’s program in the art of barbering.
It begins with 1500 hours of schooling and a state exam. Upon completion, each aspiring student enters into an 18-month apprenticeship program under the guidance of a certified Master Barber. Once the apprenticeship is finished, another rigorous state exam is given in which knowledge of the history of barbering, anatomy, physiology, the circulatory system and licensing laws are demonstrated. If completed, students are certified a Master Barber by their respective states. It’s a process that takes nearly two years, but for Truefitt & Hill barbers the journey has just begun.
Truefitt & Hill has such high standards for their barbers, that a minimum of five years experience at the Master Barber level is required for consideration. It’s a period of time that allows each barber to hone their skills beyond the training they have received. It’s also a period of time that makes the employment by Truefitt & Hill both an honor and a worthy accomplishment. It has long been said that you never retire a Truefitt & Hill barber. You die a Truefitt & Hill barber.
