Meet Our Barbers
Name: Uziel Munoz
Barbershop Location: Las Vegas
Favorite Artist: Van Gogh
Bio:
I was born in Lynwood, California in 1979. My father wanted a house doctor to deliver me, so I was born in my aunt's house. Really, I'm not joking. Unfortunately, I was born with congenital heart disease (heart problems at birth). I won't get into the details, but my heart problems is what made me decide to become a Barber. It's a satisfying job and it's not too physical.
I come from a big, typical Mexican family. I'm the oldest and I have three younger sisters and two younger brothers. We grew up in L.A., California. I got married 4 years ago to a lovely woman. That's the reason I live in Las Vegas.
I love art, music, books and homemade enchiladas. But I hate to see gentlemen with bad haircuts.
Name: Noe Hernandez
Barbershop Location: Las Vegas
Favorite Poet: Gabriel Garcia-Iorca
Bio:
Hello my name is Noe Hernandez Jr. I was born in San Benito, Texas were my uncle Joe is not only the town barber, but he's the mayor as well. My godfather Angel Balderas is a barber in Aurora, Illinois were I went to barber school at Mohler barber college. I became an instructor there, and met my future wife (she was one of my first students). I spent some time in the medical field, but my passion in barbering prevailed.
I love the science and history of barbering and am very proud to be considered a Master. I was fortunate to see the large hotel barbershops in action in the glory days, which makes me so happy to be a Truefitt & Hill barber. Working at Truefitt and Hill - Las Vegas allows us to keep the tradition and history alive. In a world of saturation it's nice to know all the new barbershop brands look to us with our 200 years of experience.
My wife is a Truefitt & Hill barber as well, and we have two children with hopes that one of them will become a barber too.
Name: Nikki Hernandez
Barbershop Location: Las Vegas
Favorite Musician: Melissa Etheridge
Bio:
I was born in Marion, Indiana in 1965, but moved around alot as a kid. I have lived on both coasts; Massachussetts and in California, but spent most of my life in the Chicagoland area. I started barbering immediately after high school and spent many years (19 to be exact) at Henczel's Barber Shop, full time as well as part time at a barber shop in downtown Chicago.
I've been with Truefitt & Hill a few years now and I have to say it's best job I've ever had. The product is incredible. Customers are fun, sometimes even famous, and always something interesting. I absolutely love it here in Vegas, it's nice to wake up to sunshine every day.
I've been married for 23 years to the same guy. I know, incredible, right? He is also a barber here at Truefitt & Hill. We have two kids and have worked together all our lives. We make a great team and it's nice to share a common interest. It's common in our industry to be very family oriented, maybe one day one of our kids will be a barber at Truefitt & Hill. I'm guessing we'll still be here in the future since it's been around for 203 years. That says something.
Name: Joseph Lapisa
Barbershop Location: Las Vegas
Favorite Wine: '02 Gaja Barbaresco
Bio:
My name is Joseph Lapisa. I was born in the small town of Ciminna, Sicily, near Palermo during World War II. In those days there were no televisions, video games, or ipod’s. When a child reached the age of 12 or 13 their parents would send them to learn a trade, whether it be to become a carpenter, tailor, or barber. I chose to become a barber and was doing shaves and haircuts at 13 years of age.
My parents took a journey to the United States and ended up in the great city of Chicago, Illinois. It was in Chicago where I established and managed my own barbershop for many years. Three years ago, I sold my barbershop and my house, retired and moved to Henderson, Nevada. My lovely wife Betty and I love it here, especially the climate! We have been married over 42 years and have two beautiful daughters, Francesca and Rosanna. Francesca lives in Venice, Florida and Rosanna lives in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
After living in Henderson a couple of years, I realized how much I missed working and decided to come out of retirement. I was so lucky to have found a second career at Truefitt & Hill, the oldest Barbershop in the world. Come by for visit as I would enjoy giving you the best shave you have ever had in your life. Ciao.
